![]() The other side is giving add-on authors an easier way to release updates- no more human reviews prior to add-on release, automated add-on metadata checks, to name a few. We have add-ons performing similar functionality such as Tienda, but what’s important was to have NVDA itself do it without relying on add-ons. Originally, I thought the bulk of Add-on Updater code will become part of NVDA itself, but NV Access and the community had a bigger idea: create an add-on store to browse and download add-ons compatible with the NVDA version you’ve got. When I announced Add-on Updater in July 2018, I did note that the lifespan of this add-on is tied to NVDA development, specifically add-on update check facility. ![]() While the subject conveys what amounts to a sad news, it is actually good news as something folks have been dreaming about is being worked on actively by NV Access: ability to check for, download, and update add-ons directly from NVDA without employing add-ons! Yes, you heard it right – NV Access and members of the add-ons community are hard at work on bringing add-on store to NVDA, with add-on authors submitting their add-ons metadata to an add-on datastore repository:
